The movies leaving Netflix this month

July is a great time for vacation. But whether you're taking a road trip to the beach or jet-setting somewhere cool in the dead of summer, you'll need some entertainment to bring along. Like many pop culture lovers, you're probably heading to Netflix to start downloading your favorite movies for the long plane and car rides ahead. But is there anything worse than opening the app, only to realize the movie you'd been looking forward to is no longer available to stream?

There are quite a few reasons a movie might leave Netflix; perhaps its rights are no longer available, or its popularity doesn't justify the cost of licensing. Though the motivation may vary, 29 movies are leaving Netflix by the end of July 2024. Never fear. Stacker compiled a list of the films departing along with the last day they'll be available to stream on the platform. There are also supplementary insights from IMDb on each movie's director, cast, and runtime.

The original "The Matrix" trilogy is first on the chopping block. The first three Keanu Reeves-starring sci-fi action flicks will exit the streamer on July 31, giving you plenty of time to relive Neo's path to red-pill enlightenment. Looking for another sci-fi series to watch before the month expires? There's also "Resident Evil" and "Resident Evil: Retribution," the first and fifth installments of that franchise, respectively, starring Milla Jovovich as a commando tasked with preventing a deadly virus from spreading outside a laboratory's walls.

If sci-fi is not your thing, there are plenty of other options to explore before they bite the dust, from animated comedies to superhero epics. With news that a "Donkey" spin-off might be in the works with Eddie Murphy, there's no better time to revisit "Shrek" before his swamp gets drained on July 31. And if you want to get back into the Marvel spirit ahead of the release of "Deadpool & Wolverine" on July 26, it's the perfect time to stream Ang Lee's "Hulk." The ambitious and artistic rendering of the green giant is also scheduled to leave Netflix at the end of the month.

There are plenty of other movies—including two of the best sports dramas of the last 15 years—leaving Netflix throughout July. Read on to see the full list and start downloading before you're forced into airplane mode.
